Yin Yoga is suitable for almost all levels of students, it is a perfect contrast to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, lower spine, and shoulders. It is holding postures or poses between 1-20 minutes accompanied by deep breathing.
Yin is a restful practice, gentle therapy, passive healing, and a supportive form of meditation. You will use props such as blankets, blocks, and bolsters to help support your body during poses in order to immerse yourself deeper into a pose, focusing on breath and, in turn, truly relaxing.
