Join Noelle Whittington on a journey into Bhakti Yoga (the Yoga of Devotion and Love) and how we can apply its principles in finding the Sacred in our modern-day lives. Yoga has deep roots in the traditions of Hinduism and Buddhism, and in this workshop, we will dive specifically into Vedic Wisdom and its growth through history. The concept of the Deities (Gods and Goddesses)- represents a particular quality or aspect of Love that we all embody as our highest Self. It is said that when we hear, speak, or sing these Divine names, that we are tapping into the vibration of those highest qualities and we return to being our true nature- Love- in all its names and forms. We will learn about the mythology of the Hindu Trinity- Brahma, Visnu, and Siva, and their many meanings, avatars, and consorts. This workshop will include a brief history of Yogic (Vedic) Philosophy, stories behind the Deities, their meanings and mantras, a meditation to put these practices into action, and we will have time for discussion and sharing. We will end class with a Chant practice.
This series is for those who are interested in the history of Yogic philosophy, and for those who are interested in meditation practices that include chanting and music.
There is no experience required. This workshop is discussion and meditation based. Chairs will be available if desired.
