The journey of belly dance is powerful and transformative. When you discover new ways to move your body it brings greater acceptance, joy, and freedom to your spirit. This workshop is open to people of all ages and abilities. Come prepared to dance barefoot and have a beautiful spirit-mind-body experience. Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move. Showing your belly is not required (but is celebrated!) Hip scarfs will be available to use if you'd like.
No previous dance experience needed.
Please bring your yoga mat, mats are available at the studio if you need to use one.
Trained in various dance forms, Kalia teaches Belly Dance as a celebratory tradition through which women gain more acceptance and enjoyment of their bodies and greater expression through the mind/body/spirit connection. She has studied with various dancers specializing in American Tribal Style, Tribal Fusion, and Cabaret style Belly Dance, as well as healing through movement, and has taught at Trinity College and the University of Connecticut, as well as numerous yoga and dance studios throughout Connecticut for 15 years.
