Trauma Awareness through YogaWith Taralee CayceTrauma can create both an emotional and physical imprint on the body. As Bessel Van der Kolk explains, unresolved emotional trauma creates “issues in our tissues”, manifesting symptoms from a clenched jaw - to a heavy heart. By increasing our knowledge and understanding of trauma’s impact on the body we better equip ourselves. In the US alone an estimated 70% of adults have experienced a traumatic event with 20% or more of these individuals showing signs of post traumatic stress disorder or PTSD.Through yoga postures, safe sequencing, breathing techniques and invitational language we can begin to trust ourselves while promoting sensitivity and empowerment to those around us. This workshop is open to those looking to learn more about working with survivors or finding tools to manifest courage and security within their own bodies.Taralee is on a mission to get people to slow down. To forget everything they know about what Yoga should look like and begin to feel each motion, each breathe like they are practicing for the first time. Taralee was introduced to pranayama and yoga postures as a kinesiology major in college but as a avid dancer and musician these were principals she had been practicing for as long as she could remember. It wasn't until an accident lead her to restorative yoga that she began to see the transformation spirit that surrounds this practice. Just a few classes in and mirroring with rehabilitation therapies Taralee started her first 200 hour training. Thus began Taralee's love of yoga and her lifetime commitment to stay a humble student. Since starting teaching in 2010 Taralee has continued to her journey through prenatal, somatic, injustice and trauma informed trainings. Indeed yoga is for everyBODY and Taralee promotes self-discovery and compassion for all throughout her teachings.Investment: $45
