Yin is about acceptance and yielding. In these classes we’ll rarely get up from the floor and explore deep stretches and sensations in stillness. Counter to more active classes with more heat and movement (Yang), a Yin class is about holding stretches for longer periods of time, usually 3-5 minutes. Mostly done on the floor and with props, these classes ask students to explore sensations in the body and gradually ease into stretches, always avoiding force and pain by gently relaxing muscular engagement. Yin is about letting go and getting curious with the body-mind connection while flushing out toxins and increasing range of motion in the joints and spine. These classes are open to beginners and encourage a safe and healthy exploration.
