PRANA | a breathwork series

In this 4-part breathwork series participants will gain a deeper understanding of the power of pranayama and how to utilize various breathing techniques for emotional regulation. Students will be guided step-by-step through a range of breathing methods for moving prana, or energy, through the body to open energetic channels within. While exploring the practice of pranayama, participants will:

  • Increase awareness of breath

  • Experiment with controlling or modulating the breath

  • Observe shifts in one’s physical and emotional state during and after each breathing technique

This series is led by Penny Tonn, certified yoga instructor and licensed speech language pathology practitioner. Penny will share her knowledge of the scientific aspects of the respiratory system to invite a holistic understanding to the practice of mindful breathing.

Join us for an evening of Rest, Relaxation & Healing

Denise Voll, L.Ac EAMP, will guide you through breathwork and sound into a deep, meditative “theta state” so that your central nervous system can relax, leading to the release of physical tension and elevation in your mood.

A soundbath is a full-body experience where the participants are “bathed” in sound waves while lying comfortably on their mats with optional cushions, blankets, and other comfortable props. The sound waves are produced by various sources, including healing instruments such as gongs, singing bowls, percussion, chimes, rattles and tuning forks. Soundbaths are considered a healing modality that may reduce pain, elevate mood, relieve stress, and deepen the mind-body connection.

The experience will begin with breathwork and/or very gentle movement to prepare the body and mind, followed by the sound immersion, and will conclude with an invitation to reflect and share with other participants.

In order to ensure the best experience for all, please allow yourself enough time to arrive, set up any props you choose, and be on your mat by 7pm or you may be denied entry.

Investment is $35 per person and current Aya Members save 10%.

INTENTION | A New Year's Day Practice

Clarify your intentions for the new year during this all-levels event led by Carrie Johnson at Aya Yoga Oasis.
During this workshop you will flow through 108 sun salutation variations, take time to solidify your thoughts through journaling and discussion, and join together as a community.

Why 108 sun salutations?
Negative energy can stay trapped in our bodies in the form of tension and habitual movement patterns. Sun salutations stimulate stuck energy and help to clear obstacles that are no longer serving you. Releasing negative energy is an important step in creating space for new intentions.

Students will be offered modifications for our practice as well as breaks between modules. Please bring 2 pieces of paper and a pen, yoga mat, towel, water, and any additional props you like to use in your practice.
Join us on Saturday, January 1st from 10am-12:30pm for only a $36 investment to start your year off in community! Space is limited. Two free spots are available for people who identify as a member of a marginilized community. Please email to receive one of these free spots.

VINYASA: Aya Yoga Oasis 200 hour FIRE & WATER Vinyasa teacher training program

You are unique, and so is your yoga practice. Your yoga training should be no exception. At Aya we embrace our differences - and thrive together in community.

Aya Yoga Oasis' 200 hour training will empower you to become a mindful, intentional teacher through an integrated training curriculum that emphasizes teaching to all levels and abilities.

Over the course of six months, you will dive deep into a better understanding of your own personal practice, study rich history, philosophy and the origins of the practice, learn foundational teaching techniques and methodology, begin to craft your own unique voice, and share your experiences in a supportive community. Aya welcomes those who desire to teach yoga as well as those who wish to deepen their own practice.
