This course is available to women and their babies who have had their 6 week postnatal checkup and are given the go -ahead to begin gentle exercise. You can, of course, come along without your baby if you have someone to look after them.
Pilates is great for strengthening your core and helping to regain your pre-pregnancy abdominal strength. Most importantly, we will be focussing on strengthening the pelvic floor and lower abdominals. You will work up slowly and safely.
It is also good for your mental health and general well-being. An opportunity to leave the house with or without your baby and meet other women in the same situation.
Sometimes you will get little done, especially if babies need feeding, but you will still be able to gain knowledge of the moves and practice later at home. It is also a great opportunity to bond with your baby and make connections with other new mums. Often, the postnatal classes are a woman’s first insight into this practice.

A day of asana, pranayama, meditation, yoga nidra & joyous celebration of summer.
We will be discovering the triple energy of nature, as revealed by yogic philosophy - the gunas. These qualities of energy, shakti, are what creates the whole of existence, and we too, are made up of this dance of energy.
Through the day we will tune into the ways in which these qualities manifest, within our bodies, hearts and minds, within the rhythms of our life, and within the natural world around us. We will reflect on our precious world, and find insights into how energy can change and shift, and how our inner work can ripple out into changing the state of the world in which we live.
Join Chiraswa for a special celebration of the summer solstice.

Explore a Trauma-Informed Lens
This 20-hour course includes 16 hours of in-person content and 4 hours of self-study material. Together we will examine the core components of trauma-sensitive yoga and how those fundamental elements relate to any anti-oppressive and trauma-informed work.
The content is rooted in the research from the Center for Trauma and Embodiment and is designed for anyone interested in deepening their understanding of the whole-system impact of complex trauma (both systemic and interpersonal). This training will review the significant effects of trauma on the brain, body, and relationships, as well as the psychological and neuroscientific underpinnings of the TCTSY (Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga) model.
Participants may include, but are not limited to, yoga
teachers, social workers, mental health clinicians, educators,
activists, somatic practitioners and healers, or other health care
professionals, as its applications can extend far beyond the yoga
mat.
Experiential in design, this training will encourage a deep
exploration of trauma and how it impacts the entirety of a
survivor's life. Participants will:
-
Learn how to meet survivors on their healing journey
-
Explore a shared authentic experience of embodiment
-
Gain a foundational understanding of this empowerment-based program
-
Expand their current clinical or movement-based practice to incorporate some of the TCTSY methodology
-
Explore how movement and language can facilitate power-sharing and expand a sense of agency
Content is delivered through group lectures, small group discussion, movement and breath practices, and self-study reading and reflection material.
There are NO prerequisites to attend this foundational training.
Foundational Trainings are approved for:
-
20 CEUs with Yoga Alliance
-
18 CEUs with International Association of Yoga Therapists
-
4 self-care CEUs with the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork
While this training does not qualify participants to facilitate TCTSY, it does provide the foundations for making your current scope of practice more trauma-informed and is also the primary prerequisite to the yearly 300-hour Certification Program in TCTSY, at the Center for Trauma and Embodiment.
