Summer Street Clinic 2nd-4th Grades
Jul 12, 2024 - Aug 16, 2024

This clinic precedes the Street League each Friday and is a great way for players to prepare for the different demands of the street/futsal game.

Each Friday we'll train some futsal techniques and principles of attack 1v1 and all permutations up to 5v5. Players that attend each week and concentrate their best will have gained skills and ideas they can successfully apply to the traditional outdoor game, and perhaps the biggest take-away will be that the game belongs to them.

Come every Friday or drop-in when you want. Simply book your visit online then pay cash in person.

Details:

Boys and Girls 2nd to 4th grades (as of Fall 2024)

When: 6 Fridays running July 12, 19, 26, August 2, 9, 16

Time: 545-630pm

Where: Outside at Freedom Park Basketball Courts (86 Union St. Medford, NJ 08055)

When booking either or both events just choose your dates and click complete booking then pay cash at the event.

Make-Ups for weather cancelations will be held on following Tuesday at same times.

Format: Players will work on various ball ball manipulations and movements to increase comfort on the ball, then we will add pressure of an opponent via, 1v1, 2v1s, 2v2s, and up to 5v5 playing situations.

Important Note: This program is conducted on concrete basketball courts outside. Players MUST WEAR FLATS/SNEAKERS. We are subject to weather conditions so if we need to cancel a night due to storms then we’ll contact everyone via text who has registered online. Walkups are always welcome but if you haven’t registered online then you might not know if we have canceled an evening.

Disclaimer:

If you DO NOT participate in this clinic then your child WILL NOT fall behind their peers. In fact studies* have shown that kids who have their season extended into the summer via select soccer programs and anything like them involving a continuance of their boring team training and pointless tournament play will experience an array of symptoms that include; mental fatigue, physical fatigue, less love for soccer, and possible resentment for having to miss swim parties and beach days; common refrains will be I don't wanna..., Do I have to?, Can't I skip it tonight?, many players will elect to quit the game altogether before their teenage years, even worse some will abandon the game to take up skateboarding because skateboarding culture is historically rebellious, peer directed, and usually done without adult involvement. Don't let your soccer players become skateboarders. Take the summer off and return to your club teams in later August, rested and excited to see friends and play soccer again, but if you don't heed our advice then come to our Friday night Street Soccer clinic where freedom, skill, and players owning the game are central to everything we do.

*Studies conducted by Paul and John growing up in the game in the 1980s when everything was simpler, slower, and kids had more freedom.

Summer Street League 2nd-4th Grades
Jul 12, 2024 - Aug 16, 2024

Imagine if every basketball court in America had goals, no adults coaching every move, and players just getting after it. Well it exists (at least in Medford NJ)!

Freedom, experimenting, risk taking, failing and succeeding, and ultimately learning! Simply playing is a necessary part of development and keeping that love for the game burning hot!

This is where the game lives and breathes.....The AKKA Street League!

Awesome video showing the action! Article on league from a few summers back.

Boys and Girls 2nd-4th Grades (as of fall 2024)

When: 6 Fridays running July 12, 19, 26 August 2, 9, 16

Time: 645-8pm

Make-Ups for weather cancelations will be held on following Tuesday at same times.

Where: Freedom Park Basketball Courts (86 Union St. Medford, NJ 08055)

Cost: Cash in person $15 (book online then choose Book and pay later). Or book and pay $20 online.

Format: 4v4 or 5v5 w/gks. Teams of 8 players maximum. We'll help individuals make teams.

  • We send 3 teams to a court, 2 play, 1 rests,

  • 2 matches per night

  • 18-24min matches (length of match depends on # of players/teams on the evening)

  • Rosters/Carding - NONE. This is a loose interpretation of a league. You can bring different players every week if you want. We're not worried about ringers being brought in to win matches.

  • We'll have refs to help manage time and keep players safe - These are not USYS officials, these are older players or coaches that will call fouls and balls out of play. Their primary focus again is player safety and keep the games flowing.

  • AKKA coaches will be on hand to help teams through the night with some tactics, technical advice, etc., BUT this is a Player and Game centered environment. Players are strongly encouraged to do their own subbing and coaching of themselves. Adult Coaches are NOT required BUT welcome as with the youngest players a little help subbing can be useful BUT we have to remember that kids are capable of managing these decisions especially if provided a little guidance and room to do so.
