To function properly the shoulder joint needs the balance
between mobility to move the arms freely and stability to bear
weight on the hands. Inherently the shoulder joint is mobile and
requires stabilization. However, due to our modern 'chair' culture
the shouldergirdle often adopts a hunched posture and needs opening
or freeing up in yoga practice.
