Break Through Exam Fear: Group Exam Prep

Let’s be honest, we’ve all been nervous to take a certification exam. Exams require you to distill a lot of information into a short demonstration, not to mention speak confidently and intelligently about what you’ve been learning in the STOTT PILATES® courses. They can be complete nerve wracking.

The best way to counteract the nerves is to be prepared.

This workshop will take you and several other students through the exam process. A week prior to the workshop you will be assigned a segment of the exam to present to the group during the workshop. Preparing to teach this segment is the first step in getting ready for the real exam. Each participant will present their segments in the order of an official exam so everyone gets a sense of the process.

Presenting your segment will require you to deal with some of the nerves of publicly presenting the information. But everyone in the room will be in the same situation so it will be a supportive, judgement-free zone.

After the segments are presented, the Instructor Trainer will share feedback with the entire group on how each segment might be improved.

This workshop is designed for teachers preparing for the following STOTT PILATES® Practical Exams:

  • Mat
  • Mat & Reformer
  • Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Stability Chair, and Barrels

This workshop will also serve as a review of Client Interview, Postural Assessment, Basic Principles, Matwork Warmup, and Mat exercises.


This is a 3-hour interactive workshop. Students will need to prepare in advance 1 or more segments to present during the workshop.

Learning Objectives

  1. To clarify the Practical Examination process;
  2. To collaboratively demonstrate various segments of the STOTT PILATES® Practical Exam;
  3. To review Postural Analysis, Basic Principles, and what should be communicated when teaching any exercise during the exam; 
  4. To help you prepare for Practical Exam success.
