Let Go of All That No Longer Serves You

Join us for an inward journey through the healing art of breath & sound.

Our journey together will begin by tuning in, setting our intention & preparing the body with some gentle yogic stretching. To shift the mind into a state of relaxation and receptivity we will explore the ancient practice of pranayama aka breathwork “to bring peace to the mind, watch & regulate the breath” Patanjali. The second portion of the evening we will come into savasana for a long (20-30 minute) gong bath.

In the yogic tradition, following the cycles of the moon is the universal support of shakti & shiva. Full moon (is the full expression of shakti, it is the evolution of energy in its totality) practices are an opportunity for us to align ourselves with all of the activities we are wanting to manifest (mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally) in life. The new moon (shiva & shakti are one stream of consciousness, the involution of energy back to source) is a time to become still & bring our focus to meditative practices.

At the end of the evening, you may experience a state of harmony, expanded awareness, & an awakening to your innate wholeness.

Breathwork aka pranayama/yogic breathing is the movement of prana through the practice of conscious breath control. Prana is the life force or energy, it rides on the breath; yama is control. In its simplicity, pranayama is the full control of prana by self regulating the inhalation, exhalation, & retention without creating any agitation/tension in the body. “By regulating the prana, we regulate our minds. If one is controlled, the other is automatically controlled as well.” The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali

Gong Bath:

Gong meditation or bath is an ancient practice that promotes healing through the medium of sound. The vibration of the gong is a powerful tool for reducing stress, releasing stagnation in the body & rejuvenating the nervous system. Known as a Gong Bath, the gong creates an ocean of sound that is profoundly relaxing; a state which activates the parasympathetic nervous system to balance the over-amped & taxed sympathetic nervous system. The gong can take you from the beta or a wake state & puts you in a theta or lucid dream state. In the theta state your body is completely relaxed, leaving you feeling, rejuvenated, & refreshed. “As you listen to the gong’s sound, it will penetrate every cell & fiber of your body. Emotions & thoughts are provoked from the sub-conscious. The entire nervous system is put under pressure to adjust & self-heal. The sound will carry you beyond all fears. The pressure will release the nervous system of many illnesses or dis-ease.” Yogi Bhajan from Ancient Healing Ways

Gong master Don Contreaux says, “The sounds from the gong travels from the outer ear throughout the body via the vagus nerve—impacting brain waves, respiratory and heart rate. Sound enters the healing equation from several directions: It may alter cellular functions through energetic effects; it may entrain biological systems to function more homeostatically; it may calm the mind and therefore the body; or it may have emotional effects, which influence neurotransmitters and neuropeptides, which in turn help to regulate the immune system—the healer within.”
