The joyful pre-piano classes engage children in
fun activities that establish a solid
music-making foundation. Activities include singing,
movement, playing instruments, ensemble work, ear training and
guided listening. This developmentally sound
approach to music literacy builds symbolic
thinking, concentration, memory and self-expression, which are all
essential skills for musicians.
The class focuses on your child's fascination with nature and develops a love of instruments. Your child will be introduced to the sounds of orchestral instruments, first individually, and then in a context of an ensemble. Such a listening foundation will lead to long-term success with music reading in future classes. The elements of music reading are explored in fun games, and children begin to recognize the patterns they have been practicing in earlier Musikgarten classes with actual music notation.
At the end of the Music Makers series, your child will have a comprehensive music foundation with skills needed for a successful journey toward life-long instrument playing and musicianship. It is an excellent preparation for the transition to the next level, Music Makers: At the Keyboard.
The 60-minute classes are designed for 45-minutes child-independent, and 15-minutes with parent/caregiver. Parents and caregivers will delight in learning with their children and making music together.
