Just like our drop-in classes, our multi-week flying trapeze workshops sessions teach the skills of jumping from the platform, swinging on the flying trapeze bar, and landing in the safety net. Our youth workshops are particulary tailored for the learning experience of younger students and are taught by instructors with significant experience working with youth.
Students move through a curriculum of positions and tricks on the flying trapeze, including opportunities to be caught by a catcher. Beginners are very welcome and will start their session with some instruction on the ground before getting up into the air.
An adult is required to be present in the facility for the entire duration of the class.
Continue your flying trapeze journey with an Intensive Flying Workshop!
IFWs are designed for flyers seeking greater focus and consistency in their trapeze practice. They're also a wonderful opportunity to get a taste of performing in a supportive environment.
In an IFW, you'll build both your flying skills and your circus community, as you'll work with the same coaches and students every week. You'll set goals, hone your flying, and then work as a group to select music and costumes to show off your hard work.
This workshop meets weekly for 10 weeks and culminates in a showcase. The show is open to a public audience, so you can invite your family and friends to see you fly.
Each student will work at their own pace and collaborate with their coaches to set individual practice and performance goals. While no prior experience is necessary, we do recommend that students take at least a couple of drop-in flying trapeze classes before committing to a multi-week workshop, just to make sure it's the right fit for you.
Our leveled IFWs are designed for experienced students. This higher-level workshop focuses on attaining new skills and increasingly challenging tricks.
IFWs are a great way to build flying skills, connect with other flyers, and even have a chance to perform your tricks! In particular, more experienced students benefit from consistent coaching and focused progression over the 10-week workshop. Most Level 2 / Level 3+ workshops are also caught by an out-of-lines catcher, allowing Level 4+ students to perform their tricks without spotting lines.
Prerequisites: To participate, students must have completed the prerequisite sign-offs in our online logbook. Contact info@capcitycircus.com if you have any questions!
