Yoga in Action: Support Our Local Food + Essentials Drive
At CENTER yoga, we believe yoga extends far beyond the mat — it’s how we show up for one another.
From Friday, October 31 through November 7, both our Clinton and Guilford studios will be collection points for much-needed donations to support our local food pantries and veterans across Connecticut.
We’re collecting:
- Canned goods + non-perishables
- Pet food
- Personal care products
All donations will go directly to the Clinton and Guilford Food Pantries and to Connecticut veterans in need.
To close our week of giving, join us for a donation-based All Levels FLOW class in Clinton on Friday, November 7 at 4:30 pm.
Your participation and contributions will support those impacted by
the government shutdown and loss of SNAP benefits
— and others experiencing hardship.
Let’s come together in compassion, strength, and service — because community care is yoga in action.
Chris
Chris began teaching aerobics on the West Coast in 1980 and continued sharing his passion for movement—even during his years living in Italy—until 2020. Over the decades, he has guided a wide range of dance, step, and spin classes, always blending rhythm, strength, and joy.
In the early 1990s, a visit to the Kripalu Yoga Center in Massachusetts opened a new path. Chris began weaving yoga into his classes, first through mindful warmups and cool downs, and eventually as a central part of his life and teaching philosophy.
A professional designer and artist, Chris later became a visual arts educator and has spent more than 20 years inspiring creativity in New Haven’s public elementary schools.
In yoga, Chris discovered a practice that unites body, mind, and spirit—and he was instantly hooked. In May 2025, he completed his 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at CENTER Yoga + Wellness, led and mentored by Petra Appleget.
Chris brings enthusiasm, curiosity, and joy to every class. He approaches both teaching and practice with a “beginner’s mind,” always eager to learn, grow, and share the transformative power of yoga.

Join Jessica for a deeply transformative evening as we honor the Winter Solstice—the longest night of the year and a powerful turning point in nature’s rhythm. This is a time to reflect, release, and recommit to the light within.
In this workshop, we’ll move through 108 sun salutations in a sacred and supported flow—a moving meditation designed to clear stagnant energy, ignite inner strength, and welcome renewal. The practice will be broken into four rounds 27 Sun Salutations with space to pause, breathe, and reflect in between.
We’ll begin with grounding breath work and intention setting, move through the salutations in steady, supported rounds, and close with restorative poses, journaling, and quiet reflection.
Expect candlelight, community, and the power of ritual as we cross the threshold into winter—stronger, clearer, and more connected to the light within.

Jessica completed her 200 hour YogaWorks teacher training at Center Yoga + Wellness in 2019. Her passion for fitness and her profession as a Certified Exercise Physiologist led her to begin taking yoga classes in 2012 as an aid in recovery and to promote flexibility. She quickly realized the expansive benefits of yoga and it became her safe space. She found joy and understanding in quieting the mind and coming back to the present moment through asana, meditation and breath. Her challenging flows focus first on alignment as a reminder of a strong anatomy and physiology background. Her passion lies in feel good flows that lead you towards your truest Self, invigorated and empowered.
