Trauma Informed Yoga reviews the science, practice, and special considerations necessary to support and prepare a yoga teacher to work with individuals affected by traumatic life events and/or PTSD. This course covers the origins of trauma and how they affect health and functionality, the basic theory and principals of trauma Informed yoga, anatomy of the nervous system and neuroplasticity. We also cover methods to support the unique needs of trauma affected individuals and their families. This is a 8 hour trauma yoga education course, but we offer recommendations for companion coursework in specific trauma circumstances (yoga for addiction, yoga for eating disorders, yoga for sexual abuse etc. as each area of study has unique considerations and needs that cannot be covered fully in a short weekend course.) This course is recommended for RYT-200 or above yoga teachers.
