An anatomy-focused intensive for stability and balance

Do the balance poses in yoga seem totally illusive and unstable to you? Feeling chronic pain, weakness, or tightness in your hips or legs? Having trouble engaging your gluteals and core muscles - or knowing if they are even engaged!? - during workouts or yoga? Looking for ideas about simple workouts you can do to keep improve your balance and stability?

Spend the afternoon:

- learning about functional anatomy and muscle engagement for happy hips, stability, and good balance - and how the gluteals and core support that,

- strengthening and stretching the right muscles with a unique workout that incorporates TRX and yoga, and

- taking time to look closely at your posture and movement patterns to discern how to improve your balance and keep your hips happier.

No prior TRX or yoga experience required.

a workshop for healthy backs and open hearts

Fear of moving into the unknown is just one of the many challenges of backbending. Restriction in the spine, and tightness in the shoulders, hips and groins, as well as weakness in the arms, legs and abdominal core all contribute to the difficulties one might encounter in stretching and opening the front of the body.
 
This workshop will utilize a variety of techniques - including heart-centered guided meditation, core integration, hip & groin openers, shoulder openers, and spinal twists - to help you move safely and joyfully into a deeper backbending, heart opening yoga practice.
 
We will discuss the functional anatomy and biomechanics of movement and positioning. Expect a detailed breakdown of up to seventeen backbends and seven seated and supine twisting poses. These two families are covered together because twists offer the essential counterposes to a sustained backbend practice. Benefits, risks and contraindications will also be covered.
 
This workshop is recommended for all - newer practicioners as well as well experienced yogis.

Join Ommy for a detailed breakdown of seven core strengthening and opening poses to better help you work with an awakened core when adding handstands and tripod into your yoga practice. This workshop is for anyone who wants to develop an independent handstand practice. We will focus on full body activation and alignment that improve balance and make transitions smoother. You will build confidence while getting introduced to many playful variations of handstand.

In this practice we step into the Yoga Lab to learn how to really see, understand, and relate in a meaningful way with effective verbal and hands–on cues for those who exhibit different challenges and tendencies in these poses. We will cover benefits, risks and contraindications, as well as alignment principles and energetic actions.

Fundamentals of Yoga Forward Bends & Binds

a workshop with a detailed breakdown of yoga's forward bends + hip openers & binding!

The forward bend is the most familiar movement of your spine. We bend forward all the time in our daily lives to lean, lift and sit. There are many benefits to forward bends, both standing and sitting. They create length and space in the spine and counteract compression. The inward nature of forward bends can promote introspection.
 
Yet forward bends can also be a challenge to many people, especially those with tight hamstrings. Common physical patterns, such as overstretched back muscles and rounded shoulders (most likely from sitting in front of a computer for hours) are often exacerbated in forward bending poses.
 
Learn how binding and hip openers are a good supplement for your forward bends. We will cover the fundamentals of these poses and how to safety achieve your best in group classes. This workshop is recommended for all - newer practicioners as well as well experienced yogis.

Partner Prenatal Workshop

Prepare for the big moment with yoga! Explore and learn how yoga offers ways to support labor and childbirth. We will dive into some accessible movements to do with one another, talk over what you are excited about and nervous about as the big day arrives with your partner. Emily brings her knowledge of yoga and teaching to pregnant bodies. Crystal brings her expertise and experience as a doula!
 
This workshop is open to all pregnant people with their support person which may be for example a family member, friend, or a doula. Generally recommended for 2nd trimester and later but all our welcome. Workshop is geared to be fun, informative, potential for a great date night for couples, and a great way to connect with your support person. All levels welcome! New to yoga? Great! This Yoga is ‘passive’, where the body is fully supported with blankets, bolsters and blocks in Yoga postures to enhance the flow of prana through specific pathways in the body for nourishment and restoration.
Reiki is the healing art of encouraging the flow of ones own energy (universal life force) through the body.
