Balls and the Wall
Dec 1, 2019 - Dec 1, 2019

Experience your favorite poses more three-dimensionally, using the wall to support and challenge our understanding of some of our favorite (and more challenging) poses. We will intermittently employ tennis balls to shine our attention to areas of ourselves we often overlook and melt away the tension that tends to hide out in our bodies.

That increased awareness and openness will shed light on the refined movements that are the key to both basic poses and poses that challenge our balance. We will explore these re-discovered regions with subtle movements to reach thrilling new places in our practice and to learn a bit more about ourselves - as practitioners - and as people off the mat.

Bring: your goal pose questions and curiosities!

Yoga + Acupuncture for Relaxation & Stress Relief
Dec 15, 2019 - Dec 15, 2019

Join the dynamic duo, Teagan Schweitzer & Susanna Satten, L.Ac. for an afternoon of yoga and acupuncture that will leave you feeling centered, relaxed, and calm at a time of year when you may need it most. In this workshop we will combine the benefits of both yoga and acupuncture to nourish your health and well-being. Everyone has heard that yoga helps us connect to ourselves and others physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. With the addition of acupuncture, all of the progress and grounding that you achieve through your practice will have a deeper and longer lasting effect. You will experience a more intense and deeper savasana (final rest) along with a greater ability to assimilate the practice and recover after class. You will emerge from this 2 hour mini-retreat feeling more relaxed and well-rested than perhaps any other yoga class you’ve ever taken.

During the workshop Teagan will lead everyone through a well-rounded accessible and fun yoga practice. Then, during your restorative savasana, Susanna will provide you with a centering, grounding, stress-relieving acupuncture treatment designed to relax and restore your body and mind. While you rest comfortably, Teagan will lead you through a tranquil yoga nidra (yogic sleep) meditation.

Teagan (PhD, E-RYT 500) has been teaching yoga in Philadelphia for over a decade and is known throughout the city for her accessible, approachable yoga classes.

Susanna is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Licensed Acupuncturist and she loves using acupuncture and other forms of Chinese medicine to help her patients feel their best. She treats the full range of physical and emotional health conditions affecting adults of all ages and genders in her private practice in Rittenhouse Square. She also provides community-style acupuncture at South Philly Community Acupuncture.

** This workshop is limited to 15 individuals, so sign up today to secure your spot! **

Sound Sequencing for Yoga Teachers
Jan 25, 2020 - Jan 26, 2020

Creating yoga sequencing is part art, part science and a whole lot of fun. It can also be a source of stress, even for seasoned yoga instructors. This weekend intensive will break down the components of creating a sound yoga sequence so that you can challenge experienced students while also supporting beginners.

The course dives into sequencing to a peak pose (or peak poses), and teaches how to be prepared to modify up or down according to the needs of students in the room. You will leave with multiple class templates, including a beginners class, an all levels class sequence focusing on backbends, and another all levels sequence focusing on hip openers/ arm balances.

You will learn a tried and true method to introduce new poses in your classes, how to counterpose effectively, and how to use sequencing to advance your students’ practices over time. If you’ve been feeling stagnant in your sequencing, or if you notice there are poses you always shy away from including, this intensive is for you!

Sunday, Jan 26, 11am-6pm (includes 1 hour break)

Winter, Rest: Seasonal Alignment Workshop w/ Monica Fauble
Jan 26, 2020 - Jan 26, 2020

According to the wisdom of Chinese Medicine, winter is the season of deep rest and surrender. In the dark days of wintertime, we turn our energy inward and learn how to work with the unknown. This can trigger discomfort and can also bring up deep fear and anxiety. If you can learn to ride the wave of your own discomfort, you can also uncover your own inner knowing. By being in sync with natural rhythms, we learn how to work with the challenges and opportunities of each season without struggling against them.

This class features a guided meditation, a discussion about the energetic qualities and gifts of wintertime, and a 75 minute yoga practice to help you attune to the energy of winter. Monica Fauble, Licensed Acupuncturist and Yoga Instructor, teaches alignment-based yoga. She loves helping people become more embodied, more attuned to their own inner knowing, so that they can share their sweet uniqueness with the world
