Prenatal Yoga - Online Virtual
Oct 15, 2020 - Nov 5, 2020

Calling all Expecting Mamas!
~
In today’s world, pregnancy can be isolating. You need to stay safe for the health of you & your baby! However, connecting to a community of women is so important.
~
Join our Prenatal group! We start each class by sharing our current joys (& not so happy moments) of pregnancy, as well as our experiences in the ever changing health care system. We then settle into practice with pregnancy specific meditations & kriyas, followed with gentle yoga designed to support the needs of the pregnant body & your sweet, growing baby. Class concludes with deep guided meditation which teaches you to go into deep relaxation, the kind you will use when you give birth to your baby. This class is taught virtually, all in the safety & comfort of your home!
~
Classes are virtually held! Thursdays at 445pm with Kat

Yoga helps alleviate many of the discomforts of pregnancy: nausea, constipation, varicose veins, swelling, back pain, & sciatica. This class includes a mixture of balancing, strengthening & stretching poses that are appropriate during pregnancy, emphasizing breathing & relaxation.

Slow Flow - Sanctuary Practice Pod
Nov 3, 2020 - Nov 24, 2020

Come in for 75 minutes of nourishment on your mat. Opening with gentle yin postures, flowing with movement, breath, and intention, and closing with meditation or song, this class will be designed to re-stabilize and shift us back into a parasympathetic, rest and restore state. Spending time in the parasympathetic improves digestion, calms anxiety, and shifts us out of the constant striving and alertness of our daily lives. The best ways to find ourselves there? Lengthening the breath, creating rhythm through mantra and movement, and spending time in community. Hope to see you there.

Rachel Stetenfeld is a 500 hr RYT, with an emphasis on Yin and Hatha from Trimurti Yoga in India, and began her journey with a 200 hr Vinyasa Flow training at Yandara Institute in Mexico. Rachel refers to yoga as the one true love of her life, seeking to learn its depths of philosophy, meditation, movement, and life practice. She led 200 hr YTTs around Madison and Denver through Breathe for Change, and has taught at retreat centers around the U.S. and most recently in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Her teaching is grounded in presence, breath, fluid movement, and creating connections between teacher and student, students and students, and student to self. When Rachel isn’t teaching, she’s studying and practicing at different ashrams and centers around the world or working her day job at DAIS. Please talk to her about your practice, your life, and yoga -- there is nothing she loves more.

To provide a safe sanctuary to practice yoga together, we have watched nature’s example, & designed MYC Practice Pods to help us all continue to thrive. You get yoga when you want it, how you want, & with whom you feel most comfortable!

Sanctuary Pods are part yoga class, part private lesson. In a month-long series, or a four-week increment, a group of five students practice together with a teacher. As a pod member, you will receive guided sequencing & specialized instruction in your teacher's practice style, helping students to build a consistent asana practice & a lasting connection with teacher, as well as other students, on & off the mat!

So, how is a pod different from a normal yoga class?

Your Pod is FULLY customizable. You can choose your pod by gathering four of your friends that you feel comfortable to meet with and who are interested in committing to the pod series together. Or, you can let MYC place you in a small group with four other students ready to commit to a regularly scheduled class. In a time when building new connections and friendships feels near impossible from a social distance, this option brings you new Pod Friends to support each other through yoga.

Why a Pod? MYC Practice Pods limit the total contact numbers in classes to help us ensure your safety and a hygienic environment and maintain a regular schedule for our teachers. Our Teachers need our support! With Practice Pods, teachers can keep steady work when students are able to take their classes & can tailor classes to their pods. They thrive by helping & inspiring students & designing creative practices to explore the body and mind.

Pods open a new & creative way we can come together to connect. Let's keep this practice sacred & fun & social in a time when disconnection & isolation may feel easiest.

Kundalini - Sanctuary Practice Pod
Nov 21, 2020 - Dec 19, 2020

Sacred Kundalini Pod with Marliyn

4 Week Series

The Five Sutras of the Aquarian Age – New Words to Live By

In this time Piscean values are giving way to Aquarian values. The difference between the two is very simple. Piscean values work from the ego, creating boundaries. Aquarian values have no boundaries; they are infinite. Aquarian consciousness takes you inside your soul, so that you can relate to the soul in all. -Yogi Bhajan from Aquarian Times, Spring 2003

A new age calls for new words to live by. Yogi Bhajan, master yogi & spiritual teacher who brought Kundalini Yoga to the West, shared five principles which he called the Five Sutras of the Aquarian Age. They are simple & straightforward, yet deep & transcendent.

The Age of Aquarius identified by Yogi Bhajan began on November 11, 2011. So it’s still relatively new, & we are only just beginning to find our way through the maze of a tremendous shift in values. The demands on the human brain & the nervous system have never been as great as they are today. Positive change will not happen overnight, & expansion in awareness will continue into the future.

EXPERIENCE YOGA & MEDITATION THAT WILL HELP YOU:

  • Connect to your inner wisdom for guidance
  • Identify & break through blockages
  • Develop strategies to cope with information overload
  • Meditate for greater compassion & awareness
  • Feel lighter in body, clearer in mind to navigate tumultuous times
  •

This class series provides an in-person opportunity to explore Yogi Bhajan’s 5 Sutras for the Aquarian Age.

Whether you are an experienced Kundalini yogi or brand new to the practice, you will

  • Experience the powerful impact of these 5 sutras through movement, breath-work, meditation & mantra.
  • Learn practical tools to navigate & integrate the incredible shift of individual & collective consciousness currently taking place.
  • Enjoy classes designed to help you make your way through these turbulent, hectic, & often violent times.
  •

Join Marilyn for this class series that will take you deeper into the Aquarian Age of awareness & healing!
