Summer Parent & Baby Yoga (Chesterton)

Baby yoga incorporates gentle stretching and movements with song. It helps build coordination and balance whilst assisting babies’ physical, emotional and social development. It can also be useful in aiding digestive or sleeping difficulty.

The yoga for the parents focuses on strengthening core muscles, improving posture and balance, relieving the common postnatal aches and pains, and of course enjoying a deep relaxation with our babies at the end of each class.

Over the Summer these classes run as pre-booked individual sessions with an age range from 10 weeks up to and including crawling babies (about 10 months). These classes are not suitable for walking babies.

Jivamukti XL Masterclass

Want to dive deeper into a 2 hour practice ? These sessions will explore the Jivamukti method of asana sequencing, hands on assists, Sanskrit chanting, philosophy with extra time for meditation, pranayama and kriyas. Suitable for students who have experience of the Open level class here at Satyam on Monday evenings.
 
Each session is bookable individually and will be followed by a 1 hour free Satsang (bookable separately).
 

May : Becoming the Spiritual warrior

What does it mean to be a warrior in the spiritual sense ? Jivamukti yoga were the pioneers of yoga at a time when activism and spirituality were seen as nothing to do with a yoga practice . Explore the reasons why we think it is a foundation of yoga and practice the Spiritual warrior class.

 

June : Restore and renew

As we come into summer months learn to adapt your practice by adding longer times in asana and pranayama . This session will be the Restore and Renew class designed to stretch fascia of the body and calm the mind. Props will be used throughout the session . It will include longer meditation time.

 

September : To bind or not to bind - that is the question !

Do you like binding asana or find them really difficult and complicated ? Have you ever been shown tips and modifications if binds are not in your toolkit? We will explore the shoulder range and try out variations of binding in this class .

Satsang is often described as a coming together of like minded people in pursuit of the truth . At Satyam we welcome everyone to come to this monthly session, meditate, chant and listen to teachings to inspire us in our life and our practice

This free class is open to everyone and all experiences of yoga are welcome.
 
It will be a regular monthly Satsang after the Sunday XL monthly 2h session with Andrea.
Check event list if you want to attend the class as well, from 2pm to 4pm.

Inner Silence: Autumn Equinox Day Retreat

In this Day Retreat we will celebrate the arrival of autumn by gently turning our attention inwards. As the high outward-facing energy of summer falls towards the ground we will enjoy yoga, pranayama, meditation and yoga nidra to begin to reconnect with the quieter parts of ourselves. We will practice mouna, or silence, throughout the day, allowing our outer voices to rest and preserving our energy for some inner focus.

The act of speaking is a physical activity which externalises our awareness and our senses. By letting go of the need to speak, we open up new ways of being in the world, of connecting to others and of connecting to ourselves. We begin to notice the great urge we have to speak, the constant chatter that can fill our lives. By pulling back and not following through with that urge, we may learn something new about ourselves and the chattering nature of our minds. Mouna, or 'harmious silence within' can be a powerful practice - you may experience it as challenging or as a sweet relief, but you will be encouraged and supported to embrace whatever arises for you on the day.

We will practice Antar Mouna - Inner Silence Meditation - a technique that leads us through various stages of internal awareness, guiding us through the internal noise and opening up the possibility of experiencing the inner silence. It is a clear, steady practical tool that can be practiced anywhere and its effects may stay with you after the practice is over.

We will end the day with some chanting, reconnecting with our outer voices and sharing in the heart-opening joy that chanting together can bring.

There will be a delicious wholesome lunch served in our Lounge area and there will be time for resting and generally enjoying the beautiful space of Satyam.

All are welcome - physical practices can be adapted to suit varying levels and physical abilities. Price includes herbal teas, snacks and a hearty lunch.
