In this series of seven 90-minute
workshops, explore the key principles contained in the 196 Yoga
Sutras through a combination of lecture, discussion, movement, and
meditation. The yoga Sutras are a collection of texts written by
the sage, Pantanjali around 400 CE. These Sutras or “threads,” make
up the basis of yoga philosophy. Students will leave with a greater
understanding of the Yoga Sutras and, hopefully, a desire to
continue to deepen their understanding of yoga concepts outside of
group asana practice. Principles in the Sutras include: suffering,
outer behavior, personal practices, and inner development.
