Virtual Partner Yin

A special way to celebrate your Valentine in the times of Covid-19. Just you and your special someone in snuggly warm Yin poses. Equal parts cuddle and practice, this event is a perfect date, at home. You will need a couple of Yoga mats, some blankets and a pillow or two. Poses will be simple and delicious, perfect for novices and for experienced Yogis alike!

Partner Yin has become a popular Valentines Day tradition at SMY. Married couple Mandy and Matt co-teach this unique and remarkable class experience. Pairs will discover common Yin poses in a whole new way using their partner for weight, leverage, support, etc. Your Yin practice will never be the same once you've discovered how these techniques can enhance and illuminate familiar poses. This workshop will also include some reciprocal Thai Massage between partners. Because of the laid back and passive nature of this practice no prior experience with yoga is required and mixed level couples can enjoy the class equally. If you have done this practice in studio, please know that the poses will be VASTLY simplified to make it easy to transition and possible to enjoy your partner instead of craning your neck to see what is coming up!

A review of Partner Yin:
Yesterday was my second time to try Partner Yin, one of the yummiest classes I have ever done in my 13 years of yoga. I was Chocolate, my partner was Vanilla and together we swirled in over a dozen Yin poses where we were both either equal participants, or one was active and the other assistive. It was as intuitive as it was verbal, as subtle as it was tactile, and as technical as it was sensual.

Pain Care Yoga for Chronic Low Back Pain

This session's group classes meet weekly on Mondays at 7 pm starting Feb. 15, 2021. Private sessions will be scheduled to suit your schedule.
If you suffer from chronic low back pain, you are in good company. It's the leading cause of disability world wide. CLBP (chronic low back pain) often leads sufferers to seek help from many different health care practitioners, chiropractors, massage therapists etc... Many of these things may help but not as much as you have hoped and perhaps only temporarily. There is hope though.
Pain Care Yoga for Chronic Low Back Pain is an evidence based 8 week series designed to help you move better and live better. Yoga can be a game changer in combination with your other treatments and medications and may even help you need them less over time.
This is an intensive program including:
8 weekly small group sessions
4 x 60 minute private sessions
8 weeks of daily practices delvered to you via an app you can use on your preferred device.

Pain Care Yoga for Chronic Low Back Pain is a 8 week program. Evidence shows that programs of this kind can significantly reduce CLBP.

Yoga for Pain Care utilizes a biopsychosocial approach to pain using:

  • movement
  • mindfulness mediation techniques
  • healthy breathing practices
  • peer support
  • pain education
  • technology for consistency and accountability

Each 8 week series is limited to a cohort of 5. A combination of private sessions with Mandy, group sessions with your cohort and self guided homework provide a comprehensive program to empower you to move better. Live better.
