Anyone participating in the Harvard Pilgrim Middletown 10 Mile or 3.5 Mile Race on Sunday, April 5th is invited to a FREE Yin Yoga class led by fellow runner and Yoga Instructor Nicole Cari. Not running the race but still want to attend? Class is available at our drop-in rate of $19 with tax.
Yin yoga is a more passive yoga practice that has multiple benefits. The physical benefit is getting into the deep connective tissue or fascia, an area commonly overlooked in yang based (more intense and athletic) activities. In this practice we will target the hip flexors, quads, hamstrings, and IT band. The poses will be held for longer periods of time, about 2-4 minutes, to help release overworked, tight places in the body. This practice also benefits the mind, helping to relax and bring stillness, helping to prepare for race day!
