“Everything in the universe has a rhythm, everything dances.” – Maya Angelou
Join us for a 2 hour women’s circle and ecstatic dance journey.
What is ecstatic dance?
Ecstatic dance is an ancient ritual practice that has existed and evolved through many different cultures and traditions. It is a freestyle/free-form moving meditation experience guided by music. It is a spiritual practice for self-discovery, empowerment and celebration. The music set takes the form of a wave as it starts slowly, builds to peak and comes back down ending in stillness. There are three basic guidelines to Ecstatic Dance. We dance barefoot. Silent Space. No drugs or alcohol.
The dance floor is our sacred container. A safe space where you can meet yourself where you are. It is a space to be free, explore, play, feel, laugh, cry, release, connect, remember and reflect. Our bodies have an innate response to move to rhythms. This practice allows us to connect to the wisdom in our bodies, to move stuck or stagnant energy and emotions, to tap into our grounded presence and spacious awareness and uncover our bliss and joy.
Flow of the evening:
The event will begin in circle. Eryn will share a reading for contemplation related to our theme and we will set our intentions for the dance. We will then move into a short guided meditation which will lead us into our 75 minute ecstatic dance journey. We will close this journey with meditation, personal reflection/journaling and optional sharing in our circle of support and compassion.

About your facilitator:
Eryn has been dancing since she was 2 years old and has had many years of training and competitive dance in her life. However, she used to be extremely shy and self-conscious when it came time to freestyle or improvise. When she discovered Conscious Dance Parties and ecstatic dance it was as if her heart and soul finally felt permission to express, shine and be seen through the support of a non-judgemental, inclusive, safe space to explore and experiment. She came to learn the true meaning of dance as a form of self-expression and self-discovery.
Eryn has been a student of yoga for over 15 years and is a teacher of hatha, restorative and kundalini yoga. Ecstatic dance is now a profound part of her personal practice after learning, dancing, and completing a facilitator training with Liz Diaz in Toronto.
She is passionate about offering tools for embodiment, self-study and reconnecting to our true nature. Eryn is honored to hold space for women to explore and nourish themselves physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
