VIP Flat Out is a dragon boat training program for breast cancer
survivors (female and male) aged 18+ who wish to develop the skills
necessary to compete at a National and International
level.
The program focus in 2026 is to compete at the 2026 CCWC in Hualien, Chinese Taipei from August 29 to September 6, 2026.
The program will only be offered on a part-time basis, and compete at festivals not typically attended by local teams, so that paddlers can participate without any impact on their “home” crew.
All High-Performance Program athletes will receive a weekly program with team practices, as well as OC1/small boat practices, strength, and cardio work to be completed individually.
The VIP Flat Out members will practice with the rest of the HP
practices in Victoria, Nanaimo and Comox Lake on Sundays throughout
the year.
From October to September there will be 1 dragon boat practice per week in Victoria, Cumberland and Nanaimo (on Sundays), except when all-paddler sessions are scheduled in Victoria, Comox or Nanaimo.
Victoria Sunday practices start at 9:30 am.
Comox Lake Sunday practices start at 9:30 am.
Nanaimo practices are on Sundays at 9am from October - March. Nanaimo practices may move to Saturdays after March.
Note: There will be 3 practices in Nanaimo at 9 am and 1 in Victoria at 9:30 am every month.
Note: You must be a VI Paddling member to register for this program.
