Qigong (pronounced “chee gung”) is an ancient Chinese method of improving health and enhancing vitality. In this class we will use a variety of gentle exercises to gather, store, cleanse, strengthen and circulate vital energy (Qi). Gentle stretches and strength building movements are part of this practice. Release stress and increase energy as you coordinate breath with movement and intention.
This class meets once a week for 6 weeks. (New session starts April 17th)
Tuition: $65
About the Teacher:
Laura Kolinski-Schultz has studied martial arts since 1974. She began her journey with Isshin-ryu, an Okinawan style of Karate, and holds a 4th degree black belt in that style. A desire to explore the internal styles led her to T'ai Chi in the early '80's. She has studied Chinese Martial Arts with Master David Schenk of the Center for Body-Mind Harmony in Tallmadge, Ohio since 1990. Laura is a Disciple of Master Schenk and is certified to teach T'ai Chi, Qi Gong, Push Hands, and all Internal Martial Arts and related exercises.
Come and have some fun beating on your drum, dance if you get the chance, chant if your spirit moves you. Join us for a drum circle at Yoga Central on select Fridays (6:45 to 8:00 pm), running through the winter months. These are donation-based sessions. Please bring your own drum or percussion instrument. Be creative: a plastic egg partially filled with raw lentils, rice, or beans makes a great homemade percussion instrument!
Drum circles have a rich history in all cultures of providing a meditative way to relax at the end of the day. Join us for a fun community-building drum circle.
It is helpful if you pre-register for free, and have an account with your e-mail address and phone number, then we can contact you with important details, or any changes.
Led by Sally Sutterfield.
