Create your own Mandala while learning about and experiencing the attitudes of mindfulness. Additionally, you will enjoy a mindful-movement practice and a restorative-rest session enhanced by sound medicine. All materials are provided. No prior yoga experience is required.
We will practice asanas and be taught to create a mandala to practice the Yogic concepts of dharana (concentration) and dhyana (meditation). It’s impossible to ‘empty’ the mind, but we can train it to become so completely absorbed with one thing that we lose all sense of time and space. This is the process of dharana and dhyana.
A mandala is a spiritual and ritual symbol. It can be understood in two different ways: externally as a visual representation of the universe, or internally as a guide to connect with universal energy. In Hinduism and Buddhism, the belief is that by entering the mandala and proceeding towards its center, you are guided through the cosmic process of transforming the universe from one of suffering into one of joy and happiness.

In order to fully prepare your heart for Christmas, to remove the obstacles that hinder our focus on the Divine, join us for a night of restoration and meditation on Jesus. In this class, you will hear scripture from the book of Matthew and Luke as you settle into your supported restorative poses. A silent time of reflection will follow each pose so you can fully allow the love of Jesus to enfold you. All while hearing beautiful acoustic guitar strum familiar sounds.
Christ Divine is the center of the Christmas holiday. Let’s celebrate this glorious season together. Bring your mat and water, and maybe your favorite cozy blanket.
This event is open to everyone on a donation basis with 100% going to Akron-Canton Regional foodbank.
Pre-registration is preferred so we can set up the appropriate amount of spaces.
Donation based. 4:30 to 6pm.
Come and have some fun beating on your drum, dance if you get the chance, chant if your spirit moves you. Join us for a drum circle at Yoga Central on select Fridays (6:45 to 8:00 pm), running through the winter months. These are donation-based sessions. Please bring your own drum or percussion instrument. Be creative: a plastic egg partially filled with raw lentils, rice, or beans makes a great homemade percussion instrument!
Drum circles have a rich history in all cultures of providing a meditative way to relax at the end of the day. Join us for a fun community-building drum circle.
It is helpful if you pre-register for free, and have an account with your e-mail address and phone number, then we can contact you with important details, or any changes.
Led by Sally Sutterfield.
Free, or make a donation at the event!
Please join us and bring a dish to share. We will meet at 6:15 at Yoga Central and, yes, there will be tables and chairs.
If your dish has nuts, wheat or dairy, no problem, but please label it that way. Thank you.
Coming early is not recommended as we have a special class ending beforehand. (Well, for that matter, coming late is not recommended either!)
The Vegetarian Club of Canton began in 1989 and for many years promoted healthy, conscientious and sustainable ways of eating. Featured guests, delicious recipes and fun evening get togethers helped spread information about eating more wisely. The club closed with COVID, but some special pop-up events are still offered.
This workshop for women will provide a space to grow in knowledge of the anatomy and function of the pelvic floor. We will have a short discussion each week and proceed to breathwork and movement that support and nourish the pelvic floor. We have four meetings on Saturdays, January 3, 10, 17, and 24, from 1:30 to 2:45 at The Yoga Place. Bring a yoga mat, or we have mats available for you to borrow or purchase.
10% of the proceeds is donated to Ohio Forest Sanctuaries.
