I’ve been a member of South West Swim Club since 2021, and joining has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for both my physical and mental wellbeing.
Under Jason Tait’s guidance, the club offers a supportive and encouraging environment. The weekly sessions have helped me build consistency, improve my technique (although still a way to go!), and develop a real sense of confidence in the water. What stands out most is the community—everyone is welcoming, and there’s a genuine sense of camaraderie.
More recently, I took part in an endurance swim—something I honestly didn’t think I’d be able to complete after struggling with a shoulder injury. With the support, structure, and encouragement from Jason and the group, I not only took part but finished it, which felt like a huge personal milestone.
If you’re considering joining, I can’t recommend South West Swim Club enough. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to push your limits, you’ll be in very capable hands.
A great endurance session today! I loved it and I'm looking forward to the next one! Thank you to the lap counters for a great job and for being so encouraging and supportive! 🏊♀️
What a way to spend a Saturday afternoon. 😊
A really positive swim with no pressure and chance to try out fueling strategies for those longer events. Which I totally miscalculated but luckily Coach bought Haribos which definitely saved my swim. Lesson learnt!
Special mention to Imogen, Mark and Kevin who was our lane counter.
Thanks Coach
Really enjoyed the sprint style set today. Going in couples kept us motivated and mind off the pain while keeping it fun and enjoyable!
Great threshold session with some 'entertaining' sprints.
A very thought provoking session Coach. On paper distance achieved looked 400m off our normal amount. Yet in practice sprinting alongside a team mate, then long swims still maintaining pace was draining!!! Add in drafting as well phew-sense of achievement to finish the session and good to work with lane buddies-awesome.
Great session with Jason, working on improving my swimming ability before Weymouth 70.3. Second time at SWS, would totally recommend anyone in a similar situation going for an initial technique improvement session.
Another great session. Identified the issues, worked on some drills to correct. Immediately felt different and more powerful.
Just what you want going into a bank holiday weekend, the Olympic Set!
A great session, and good way to test your fitness against the last time you did this sort of distance and timed event.
Where’s my Easter Egg?! 🐣
Great technique session with a focus on catch.
