Absolutely brilliant. Really good communication and made feel comfortable from the off. Learned some really good drills and a confidence builder moving forward. Looking forward to getting into the swim squad now.
I have not felt like a swimmer, I swim to be able to do Ironman. I get by in a wet suit but do not really enjoy it and my last race I questioned my sanity of taking part in an event where one of the disciplines I was so poor at, notwithstanding well within cut off.
I have had coaching and been told what to do but failed to be able to take what I had been told into the pool or water.
As a make or break I thought I would give South West Swim and video coaching a go to see if I could fix myself and I am so glad I did.
My first session was in November where Jason calmly dissected key areas for improvement and with the benefit of video I could see what I was doing wrong and able to correct it as Jason pointed them out, and see again the difference the corrections made.
Today was my second session reconfirming what I had learnt in the first and, for me, being a bit more advanced in terms of what my hands and arms are doing in recovery and hand entry.
The bite sized chunks of guidance, often visualised, help me remember what I need to do and personally feel it is a game changer to where I was. I feel like I can enjoy swimming and put into practice what I have learned.
The method really works for me, hence 5 stars.
Enjoyed the session … pleased that I held CSS pace on the 300m and was below on first two sets of 3 x 50 m whilst focusing on timing and high elbows rather than speed.
Fantastic coaching session. Just what I needed to identify my technique faults and find areas for improvement for my triathlon swimming. Would highly recommend.
Really tough session … but lots of swimming, simple to follow and a chance to work as a team. Even with adjustment to CSS I thought I’d find it tough. I tried to focus on timing and high elbows as I got tired. On the blocks of 4x 100, I held pace on first 2 x100, just missing it slightly at the end of the 3rd and 4th 100s. The second block of 4 I was losing it a bit at end of first and second 100 but well off the pace by the end of both of the last 2x 100! Another 5/5 from Garmin 😅
I don’t remember having done “fast foggy paddle with fins” before … thought a good alternative to torpedo kick!
Thanks for today’s Sunday session. A most enjoyable hour of swimming to mode 2 with longer swim recoveries and few kit changes. 👍
This was my first session in a long time. I had forgotten that I do enjoy these sessions. I am not really a keen swimmer but I do triathlon so need to improve and the structured mixer session is ideal for me as opossed to forcing myself to go to a pool and swim on my own! Jason makes them interesting and productive. The variety of abilities is very well managed with the 4 lanes and works well.
The endless pool setup is a really excellent format when paired up with expert coaching from Jason, I was able to make big changes very quickly with the way he has setup the system. It's quite amazing how quickly they translated into a pace improvement but crucially, a substantial improvement to efficiency. This will pay off stroke by stroke when I attempt my solo of the channel! I don't think there is a better value investment I could have possibly made.
Great session
A clever ‘no frills’ set 👍🏻
