Rana Gorgani is an Ambassador of the spiritual practice of Sufi Dance and is recognized in France and abroad as a master teacher, choreographic artist, and performer. She holds a Master of anthropology of dance and ethnomusicology and frequently teaches and performs throughout Europe and in the U.S., sharing the Sufi Dance heritage as well as her own unique choreographic creations with students and audience of all backgrounds. Rana is a member of the International UNESCO Dance Council and participates in the development of the Sufi Dance tradition by offering professional training with certification through UNESCO. Her Iranian Kurdish origins have led her to take inspiration from Persian Art and Sufi culture and to create her own costumes, which she considers as her dance instrument. While she has rigorously studied and explore all of the traditional branches of Sufism in which the dance and music rituals have been practiced, Rana also works with many diverse musical styles (classical, jazz, contemporary, Balkan ...) and companies (contemporary dance, circus…). Her artistry transcends borders as it exceeds its physical limits through its total control of trance. She has been presented by many renowned institutions and festivals such as the Institute du Monde Arabe in Paris; the Congrès International de danse de l’Unesco in Montreal, Canada (2013) and Athènes, Greece (2014); the Cathedral St. John The Divine in New York City; and the VII Encontro Internacional de Mùsicas e Dancas do Mundo in Bahia, Brazil, among many others.https://ranagorgani.com
