I love that I can practice with the Shakti community even when I'm out of town! I really enjoyed Evi's powerful and grounded live-online flow this morning. The Baptiste-style sequencing offers a powerful moving meditation that challenges the body, opens the heart, and quiets the mind. I broke a sweat even in an airconditioned room and enjoyed a deep meditation after the class ended. Thank you Evi and the Shakti community!
Zak Endicott has been practicing at Shakti since 2007 and teaching there since 2011. His first exposure to yoga was through meditation which he learned from his father as a young boy, and then later on in high school when he began reading texts like the Bhagavad Gita, furthering his interests in meditation and yoga. Growing up in Ballard, it was a matter of time until Zak dropped into Shakti and began regular daily practice for years to come. Early on, in 2010 Zak completed 200 hour YA training with Baron Baptiste, and continued ongoing mentorship with Lisa Black for years, leading intro series and training to lead other vital programs at Shakti like 40 days, special workshops, and retreats. Over the years Zak continued on to practice and train in many other lineages including many hours practicing Ashtanga with teachers like David Garigues, Kino MacGregor, Troy Lucero, advanced teacher training and ongoing training with master teacher Ana Forrest, and countless other weekend trainings with a wide variety of teachers like Dharma Mittra, Amy Ipolitti, Jason Crandell, and local teachers like Liz Doyle and Jodi Boone.
Recently in practice, Zak focuses on teaching vinyasa basics along with refining his skill set teaching Forrest yoga “inspired” style practices, which are powerful, healing and impactful for practitioners of all levels. Whether it's your first time on your mat or 10,000th practice, you will experience a new challenge or new discovery in your body, mind, heart, and spirit (and breath!). Zak has taught weekly public classes at Shakti and throughout the Seattle area since 2011, leads workshops and retreats, conducts continuing education for various local 200 hour TTs, and leads private lessons for students with a wide range of specific needs.
Outside of yoga Zak is a lover of the Northwest outdoors spending time in the mountains, skiing hiking and climbing. Zak is also a firefighter/EMT and has worked for Vashon Island Fire & Rescue for two years and is now currently being hired with Seattle Fire winter of 2020. You can continue to find Zak on the schedule subbing classes and leading more impactful events and retreats in the future with Shakti and the Seattle yoga community.
