Marianne (pronounced “MyAna”) started practicing yoga at YogaSole in 2016 to alleviate the pressures of her day-job in human rights advocacy, and as a counter to the accumulated physical effects of decades of running marathons (read: uncomfortably tight hamstrings). Within a relatively short time, she went from taking two-three classes a week to developing a regular daily practice. Every day, Marianne finds that yoga provides her with the opportunity to connect physicality, emotions, spirituality, focus, and exertion in a way that mirrors life off the mat, and therefore provides invaluable insights into how to approach and move through difficulties or conflict towards joy. Marianne completed her 200 Hour Unified Yoga Teacher Training with Troy McPeak from Peak Beings Yoga in December 2020, and has since then been offering two on-line classes weekly to friends and family. She is registered with Yoga Alliance as a certified yoga instructor. As an older, “creakier” yogi, Marianne pays specific attention to alignment and modifications, and always offers multiple options for various levels of energy, accessibility, and preference.
