Over the past six years, I have focussed most of my “yogic energy” on a power flow style of yoga - specifically Baptiste Yoga - as I find this style most empowering, inspiring, and invigorating.
Most recently, I have expanded my practice and my teaching to include Yang Yin and Yin Yoga, having taught an eight week Yang-Yin workshop and immersed myself in the restorative benefits of Yin.
Through my practice, I have been able to connect, on at deeper level, to myself, my body, my friends and family...my life! Through my teaching, I have been able to connect with my students and, in turn, am abundantly rewarded by observing their connections and breakthroughs on their mats and in their lives.
I am excited to share my love of yoga with the CHY family and look forward to meeting you one day soon, perhaps beside you on the mat or leading you through a class!
In searching for something that I could do on my own, after years of participating in team sports, I found yoga. I remember my first hot yoga class in 2005 and feeling that I had just found something amazing. At that time, it was all about the physical benefits for me. Although my practice has not always been consistent over the years, I always seem to return to my mat at just the right time. This time, after a move to Calgary in 2010, it was a gentle nudge from a friend that brought me back to my mat. I came to realize that I was ready to learn more about my practice and to find a way to share this gift with others. During my journey through teacher training in 2012-13 I came to understand that yoga is not only about the physical but also the mental benefits - helping us to clear our mind chatter and learning to be present. I believe that our bodies are so much stronger than we give them credit for. If we work to breathe deep, clear our minds, and find connection with ourselves, we can seek out new limits. The possibilities are endless!

I was first introduced to Hot Yoga in 2002 and immediately fell in love. I practiced Bikram Yoga religiously for a year and then dabbled in other styles up until 2010. I cracked a rib while training for a fitness competition and knew immediately I needed to get back in the hot room and start practicing again consistently. The moment I stepped back in the hot room I knew there was no other place I should be. My first class after an 8 year hot yoga hiatus and I was once again hooked. By my third class I was talking to a teacher about attending teacher training and 4 months later I packed my bags and attended training in San Diego in the fall of 2010. My love for yoga started with the love of the physical practice and how it changed my body. However there was always a feeling after class, like I had been 'reset' and all was right in the world again. That is what keeps me coming back to my mat. I have fallen in love with what the yoga has done for my mind. I feel I met my true self on my mat and get to know her better every time I practice. My passion for teaching and yoga has lead me to explore other styles which has enabled me to doing teacher training in Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga. I teach from a place of compassion and understanding. I believe strongly in proper alignment but also believe we must look at what is happening energetically/mentally within a posture to come to a deeper understanding of what we may need to surrender into. I am so grateful to be able to guide people on their mat and watch then transform their lives physically, mentally and spiritually.
I took my Level One Teacher Training in the Fall of 2010, and Level Two in the Fall of 2011. I have been teaching yoga since the Summer of 2013 and have loved every moment. In class I encourage you to connect with why you arrived on your mat, to challenge yourself, and to always practice self-acceptance and patience with where you are today. I look forward to having you in one of my classes soon!
