Angela Prato is nationally recognized for her beautiful and elegant Egyptian style of dance. She has been studying dance since the age of three, and is a second generation dancer. She has danced professionally all over the United States including Las Vegas, Nevada, Virginia/DC area, Pennsylvania, Dearborn, Michigan, and all over Ohio. In 2007 she placed second runner up in the Belly Dancer of the Universe Contest (BDUC) in the Egyptian Category in Long Beach, CA. In 2008, she was first runner up in the drum solo category at BDUC. She has been the featured performer in many of Ohio’s finest Middle Eastern clubs and restaurants. Angela has performed with many famous singers and bands throughout her career ranging from Arabic to Greek performances. One highlight of her belly dance journey was being invited onstage by belly dance superstar Lucy of Cairo, to demonstrate and dance beside her. Angela teaches at The Yoga Place in Canton, Ohio. She has chosen to focus on the classical Egyptian style of belly dance, known as Raks Sharki, as well as traditional folkloric dances from the Middle East and beyond. Besides Raks Sharki she is also classically trained in ballet, jazz, tap, flamenco and Polynesian dance.
