Early Spring Prenatal Limited Series

Practicing yoga during pregnancy prepares the mind and body for a more functional birth and journey into parenthood. Classes are specifically designed for you and your changing body and appropriate for all trimesters, preconception and into parenthood, regardless of your previous yoga experience. Beginners are welcome. Classes combine traditional yoga poses and breath practices with creative movement and restorative postures to alleviate common aches and pains, introduce coping tools for birth, and inspire a sense of empowerment in this great transition. We offer a space to explore yourself and to connect with your baby and others on the same journey. Those looking for a gentle and safe space to reconnect with their body and their mat after birth are welcome too.

 

Led by Shelley Jones, mama of two and RYT-500. Shelley credits yoga with helping to make her transitions from pregnancy through birth and into motherhood easeful, though not easy. Now she shares the gift of yoga with her sons, while realizing the power of her own personal practice in supporting her as a mother. In addition to her adult classes, including prenatal and postnatal classes and workshops, Shelley loves to teach kids’ yoga. She is forever a student and has trained in prenatal yoga and pre- and postnatal Ayurveda with Brooks Haislip, Jessica Jennings, and Cate Stillman. Her most recent training was an 85-hour prenatal certification with Deb Flashenberg and Caprice Abowitt of the Prenatal Yoga Center in New York City.

Kundalini Yoga involves more than just the physical body. It is an awakening of the true nature that exists in all of us. This is a practice that helps you experience being more fully yourself, to experience a more natural unfolding of destiny and to implement inherent gifts and talents without inner obstacles (such as the kleshas). The human has changed more in the last 100 years than in the previous 1000 and is now experiencing a loss of health and a dwindling supply of inner energy to match the outer energy and demands of life. There is stress for resisting this situation where the old layout just won’t work on the new grid. The human must evolve to the next stage or as we like to say move on. Kundalini Yoga was called a well kept secret. The ancients were so wise and very insightful to see what was coming down the pike for the human of today and the future . Kundalini yoga was preserved for these times and well designed for helping you keep up and grow!  

You Will:
Practice and learn theory of Kundalini moving asana, sequencing (Kriya) and postures
Explore Kundalini meditation, mantras and breathing

Our New Year's gift to you: Join us in the New Year for a new commitment to yoga. We will meet in community every other month to delve into how we can take our yoga off the mat. Rotating instructors will set a theme, provide a dharma talk, and engage attendees in conversation about how to live life fully based on yogic principles.
 
Our instructors are committed to you and these practices and are offering these mini-workshops for FREE. There will be suggested readings, but the reading is not necessary to join the conversation. Bring yourself, your questions, and your thirst for learning in community. Since it is a free offering, be sure to sign up in advance to secure your space.
 
Held every other month, fourth Sunday of the month, from 3-3:45pm (just before Savage Sunday).
