SoulPlay Yoga

SoulPlay Yoga

Robyn began her study of yoga in 1995 during a desperate search to alleviate her chronic back pain due to a double-major scoliosis. Not only did yoga give her the tools to manage her condition without drugs or surgery, but it gave her a confidence, peace of mind, and joy for life that she hadn’t experienced before. She earned her initial 200-hour certification from the Chicago Yoga Center in 2005. Subsequently, she studied with Richard Freeman, Manju Jois, Srivatsa Ramaswami, Paul Grilley, Tias Little and Elise Browning Miller. She also apprenticed at the Yoga Circle in Chicago under Gabriel Halpern with whom she studied Yoga Therapeutics. It was at that studio she first worked with pre/postnatal students who were suffering from back pain, unstable joints, and other conditions specific to pregnancy.Robyn found her yoga home in LA when she came to SoulPlay for prenatal classes during her own pregnancy. She loved the atmosphere of the studio and the support of the teachers/staff/fellow students. She seeks to pass on that sense of community to her own students in addition to helping them build the confidence, strength, breath control, and flexibility (mental and physical) it takes to get through labor and delivery. Robyn offers a supportive, challenging, safe and fun environment for women before the birth of their babies and during the fourth trimester when their bodies are recovering. If she’s learned anything throughout pregnancy/delivery/motherhood, it’s that you’ve got to keep a sense of humor, be willing to throw all your plans out the window, and above all, nurture yourself — body, mind and spirit — because practicing self-care will give you the foundation you need to care for your precious little one.
