Just Breathe Yoga Center

Kim Thomas was owner and operator or Gotta Dance Atlanta, one of Atlanta’s most successful and well known dance studios.  Kim pioneered Atlanta’s professional dance studio movement in 1990 with a dream and a mission…”to give professionals and dance enthusiasts alike a place to call home.”  Kim created a studio that offered the foundation for beginning dancers, training for the working dance professionals, and classes for the everyday fitness enthusiasts.  She developed an artistic environment that encouraged new relationships and partnerships. Kim Thomas received her B.A. in Performing Arts & Dance from Oklahoma City University where she was awarded a full scholarship.  She was actively involved with the dance and arts community for more than 40 years and has studied with many acclaimed choreographers and instructors. After a successful career as a professional dancer and Owner/Director of Gotta Dance Atlanta, Kim continues to express her love of movement by adding yoga as a complement to her well-rounded training.  She found an immediate connection to yoga and has been a devoted practitioner ever since.  Kim quickly discovered the mental, emotional and spiritual benefits of yoga.  “When we learn mindfulness and how to slow ourselves down, we are able to serve and help others with a greater capacity of kindness and compassion.”  Kim received her 200-hour Ashtanga yoga certification through S.A.M.A. in Newport, RI.  She received a second 200-hour certification from Buddhi Yoga in La Jolla, CA and a third 200-hour certification at The Asheville Yoga Center in Asheville, NC.  She recently received her certification to teach Aerial Yoga and is currently in the process of completing her 300-hour RYT at The Asheville Yoga Center.  Kim is registered with Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) instructor and a YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider) and has been teaching yoga for over 35 years. “Yoga is not about the fancy poses, being skinny or being a vegetarian.  You don't need to be flexible; yoga helps bring flexibility and strength.”  Kim finds there are infinite benefits to yoga; and believes ANYONE can do yoga, they just need to honor their bodies. She says yoga helps her learn more about herself every day, and she expects Just Breathe Yoga Center will be a safe haven for others as they pursue their own path toward personal expression and connect with their inner peace so they can take it off their mats and into their daily lives.Kimmie is Founder and Co-Owner of Just Breathe yoga Center. Her classes offer a welcoming space to soften, become present, and explore. The use of props is encouraged, and support and modifications are offered to those experiencing limited mobility. Her foremost goal is to share the practice in a way that is accessible to all: to meet people where they are, as they are.
