Like many people, my introduction to yoga began as a way to add a little ‘stretching’ to my weekly exercise routine. I had been an aerobics instructor for many years. (Yes, I wore leg warmers and braided headbands!) I was also an avid runner. I had a difficult time slowing down at first, but clearly that’s exactly what I needed. As they say, “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.” I loved yoga from the start and quickly realized that yoga is a whole lot more than simply stretching. It wasn’t until nearly 10 years later, however, that I decided to take my passion for yoga to the next level and become a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200).
I see yoga as a moving meditation where each person takes a small amount of time out of their day to focus on what is happening on their mat, at that moment. Hopefully the positive energy found on the mat can then be carried off the mat into their day, and into the world. It is my goal as a teacher to help students achieve that, while at the same time providing a challenging and well-sequenced class which leaves each student feeling energized and accomplished.
