Sylvia began practicing yoga in 2011 to relieve chronic pain
and avoid neck surgery. After extensive physical therapy and years
of gentle yoga classes with Patty Kearney, she now enjoys more
challenging vinyasa and hatha yoga styles. Beyond the incredible
physical benefits, Sylvia believes a regular yoga practice can
increase emotional strength and deepen spirituality within any
religious or non-religious perspective. Sylvia completed her 200
hour yoga teacher training at The Center School of Yoga in 2019.
Class attendees can expect to connect with mind and body through
breath-centered movement that is adaptable to each student’s needs,
and will often be invited to explore a theme for the practice and
off the mat. Sylvia is a middle school ESL teacher and is
passionate about integrating trauma-informed yoga into public
schools. In addition to education and yoga, she enjoys singing,
playing piano, and hiking with her husband.
