Oh how I have missed hot yoga!  Life and injury took me down a disconnected path from the healing that hot yoga always provides me. I love the value of yoga and what it does for our mind, body and spirit connection-the additional aspect of the heat is a game changer-deeper stretch is such a gift. The community here was both encouraging and inviting—I will be back and more on my routine here!

Rommy
I want students to leave their mats feeling good in their skin, rested in their mind and confident that they can meet the challenges life gives them, physically and mentally. When a student practices with me they come away with the ability to experience both strength and suppleness in their body and mind.

Rommy discovered yoga after years of being a gym rat and training in everything from fitness competitions, bodybuilding to race walking. The first time she walked out of a hot yoga practice she knew it was right for her. When Rommy was first asked to take teacher training she thought it was out of the realm of possibility for her, then her teacher said, ‘If you want it, you can make it happen.’ With over 1000 hours of teaching, and innumerable hours on her mat, Rommy generously shares her love and growing knowledge of anatomy alignment principles and breath work with her students. She believes that yoga is accessible to everyone of every shape and ability and that the best time to start a yoga practice is today.

Unless otherwise noted Rommy's class temperature is 92 degrees Fahrenheit.

“I remember ‘doing’ yoga with my Mother as a young girl, and as an adult I puttered with it, but I never liked yoga until I tried hot yoga. I spent my teen years overweight and uncomfortable with myself, and then I battled depression and eating disorders as an adult, never feeling good about the skin I was in. Now, not only do I feel at home in my body and with myself, I am at peace knowing that I can maintain my health and vitality without consistent struggle and negative self criticism. Yoga is my complete fitness regimen and an intrinsic part of my lifestyle. I find that the philosophies of yoga have helped to expand and deepen my Christian faith. Teaching is what I am passionate about. Teaching yoga allows me to help others return to a sense of well-being that is often elusive in our culture.”

A published author, she holds a 200 Hour Certification from Barkan Method. She is a ERYT 200 - RYT 200 with Yoga Alliance and is a Holistic Health Coach through Institute of Integrative Nutrition.

Rommy has taken part in teacher trainings and intensives with Arun Deva, Rolf Gates, Ana Forrest, Stephanie Keach, Bryan Kest, Martin Kirk, Dahrma Mitra, Sadie Nardini, Simon Park, Leslie Kaminoff, Desiree Rumbough, Ashley Turner, and Amy Weintraub along with many wonderful Nashville teachers.
