Ashtanga Yoga is a set series of postures starting with the Primary Series, the body opening. Ashtanga is a rigorous practice where the student works through Bandha, pranayama and asana based the series as created by Sri K Pattabhi Jois.
This class will introduce you to the feel and rigors of the
Ashtanga Yoga Method, with a set sequence of postures meant to be
memorized and practiced in three ways: At home, in a LED class
(teacher calls the poses and counts breath) or in MYSORE where
students arrive and practice on their own with a teacher present to
guide (there are no cues given and every student is working on
something different).
Bring your mat, rug and towel with water. If you are unfamiliar with Sun Saltations please inform the teacher prior to the start of class. Beginners are very welcome and a basic understanding of asana is helpful.
