My first encounter with yoga was through meeting a friend’s mother while she was in headstand.  This was the late 1970s and totally out of character for mothers of the time, at least in my neighborhood.  (What was this madness?)  Turns out, Mardi was a yoga instructor!  She helped me think very differently about what our bodies and minds are capable of and sparked my yoga interest.I’m American Council on Exercise (ACE) group fitness certified and have been teaching group fitness for over 20 years - step aerobics, HIIT, Zumba, kickboxing, weight training, yoga and Pilates.  While I love all styles of movement, I keep gravitating back to yoga and all it has to offer mind, body and spirit.  In 2018, I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training with Alex Pfeiffer at The Studio in Madison.  I received Pilates basic mat certification from the Mind Body Institute, 20-hour Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) training, and also hold Mind Body and Pain Free Movement Specialist certificates from ACE. My special interests are hands, feet, pain-free movement, functional mobility and healthy aging. I also enjoy working with at-risk youth. Outside of the studio, you can find me in my garden or kayaking, paddle boarding, playing violin, or hiking with my family and dogs. I look forward to practicing with you!
