It's a practice characterized by the full dynamic balance between strength and elasticity, regulated by the rhythm of the breath that binds one position to the next. A lesson challenging but suitable for all those who wish to undertake an intense practice that, if practiced regularly, results in a soft body, light and strong.
You start by learning the first of fixed sequences of Ashtanga, designed to realign, open and strengthen the body and mind. The fluid movements that bind each of the expected position in the series are accompanied by a technique of controlled breathing (pranayama ujjyai) and the contraction or closing of some parts of the body (band). It is to create a large internal heat that goes to determine the elimination of toxins and purification of the visceral and the musculoskeletal system.
