Her respect for the yogic lineage and tradition as well as her curiosity to deepen her experience and understanding of yoga has led her to yoga’s birthplace, India, as well as to studying in-depth with various teachers and trainings.
Her primary inspiration draws from Kia Miller’s Radiant Body Yoga, which combines the challenging and technical precision of Ashtanga and Iyengar Yoga with the transformational possibilities of Kundalini Yoga. She also studied with Jivani Yoga delving into therapeutics and honoring Krishnamacharya’s lineage that yoga is for EVERY body and Yin Yoga with Sarah Powers.
Charlotte balances her love of yoga with her passion for dance and expression, her desire to contribute to a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world, and connecting with friends and family.
Yoga is a dynamic dance of life, of movement and stillness, strength and surrender, sensation and sweetness, communion and solitude that brings us into a deeper connection with our true essence.
And together, we explore not only the body, but also the patterns of thoughts and emotions.
I am a C-IAYT certified Yoga Therapist with over 2,000 hours of teaching experience. I specialize in slower, somatics-based practices that are taught with creative sequencing, rich philosophy and a sense of humor. In addition to Yoga, I love dancing, cooking, travel, and social justice. I believe that building community through Yoga truly has the power to create positive social change, as students take what they learn on the mat out into the world beyond.

She first was drawn to meditation before discovering the path of
Yoga as a practical journey to recognize our true nature. In 1992,
while
practicing meditation in Suan Mokh, a Buddhist monastery in South
Thailand, Marianne quickly realized that practicing yoga
tremendously changed the quality of sitting meditating. Since then,
the practice and teaching of yoga and meditation has been
fundamental to her
life-long study of health and holistic well-being.
Marianne has studied many different lineages of Hatha Yoga,
including Sivananda Yoga, BKS Iyengar Yoga, Bihar Yoga, Ashtanga
and Vinyasa
Yoga, Forrest Yoga, Shadow Yoga, Yin Yoga and Para Yoga. Her
teachingsdraw from the essential elements of many great teachers
such as Zhander Remete, Ana Forest, Andre Lappa, Sarah Powers, Paul
Grilley, Doug Keller, Rod Stryker, S.N.Goenka and Adyashanti, as
well as from
direct experiences and her passionate study of the Nature of
Mind.
She teaches the many aspects and levels of yoga including
Asana,
Pranayama, Bhandha and Meditation, Slow Mindful Flow, Yin and
Restorative Yoga, Corporate Yoga, as well as retreats
throughout
California.
Marianne's teachings are enhanced and greatly influenced by 25
years
of bodywork and massage practice. She is a Certified Bodywork
Practitioner and Certified by Janice Gates in Somatic Yoga
Therapy.
She works with individuals to develop personalized yoga programs
for
people with pain and injury and special aspirations for
personal
practices.
Marianne's teaching uses Yoga, Bodywork and Meditation as
pathways to physically awaken the body, to wake up and build prana
and to develop
a greater understanding of who we really are and what matters
most.
'My inspiration finds new sparks with every practice, every
class,
workshop and retreat I teach. I am always excited to share my
insights
related to personal development and my study of the human body,
energy
and mind.'
