I've been taking classes since the end of January 2021 and the quality of my life has improved a hundred-fold. More energy and vitality - even during a pandemic. I'm very fortunate to have the time to do a yoga class as many times a week as I can manage. Often early in the day. I appreciate:
-- the skill and experience of Angela's flow classes with her imaginative flow movements and thoughtful insights;
--Cindy's Iyengar classes where she combines her knowledge with good humour and kindness;
--Lana's mindful hatha calm and slow-motion yin classes (and her beautiful singing/chanting voice;
--and Connie's detailed hatha classes with challenges and gifts.

These classes give me confidence that I am in good hands - though at a distance. While zoom classes lose the immediate feel of a room full of students practicing, no small loss, they open up the possibility for distance learning. And in the convenience of your home. Grateful every day for yoga at PUR Resilience.

I'm seventy now. I have learned when to modify poses and how my body's strengths and fragilities are enhanced through yoga. Since the 1970s, I have been praticing  yoga of various traditions. So very delighted to have landed here at this time in my life when I have a few decades left to learn... With grateful thanks...

Pilates Certifications: Body Control Pilates Matwork certification since 2006. Body Control Pilates is Europe’s largest professional Pilates organisation and is widely seen as a benchmark for safe and effective teaching of the highest quality.

Other Credentials: Membership of Body Control Pilates requires teachers to show continual professional development through ongoing training and education. I am qualified to teach pre- and post-natal Pilates as well as Pilates for the older person.

My Teaching Philosophy: I discovered Pilates 15 years ago while living in Australia and fell in love with the results of the method which were a feeling of graceful strength, improved posture, a sense of being in tune with my body and more mindful movement.

I specialise in Pilates Mat from beginner through to advanced level and enjoy being part of the transformation that clients experience; from feeling more energetic and toned to relieving aches and pains.  I believe Pilates should be accessible to everyone, and can tailor exercises according to special requirements such as pre- and post-natal fitness, rehabilitation needs, as well as osteopenia and osteoporosis. I am also mom to two energetic daughters and credit Pilates with keeping me strong and healthy for the demands of everyday life.

My Happy Place: I have lived in the beach for eight years after moving here with my family, from England, but I’m still getting to know Toronto so my favourite thing is to grab a friend (or convince my kids they really do like walking) and go for an exploratory urban stroll or hike through the city’s many wonderful parks and ravines – ideally with a  pause for great coffee somewhere along the way!
