Description
Study and perform music from America's unique contribution to the arts: jazz music. It provides an opportunity for music majors and non-music majors alike to learn about significant contributors to the jazz idiom, perform classic and new jazz compositions, and develop the necessary aural skills to function as a unit, providing an enjoyable listening experience to the ensemble members and potential audience. Repertoire and ensemble playing will be the highest priority, focusing on learning to improvise within several forms, including blues, rhythm changes, Bossa's, etc. This class will meet once a week with no prerequisites required. Any general questions can be directed to Andrew Novara, adjunct at Mineral Area College, at anovara@mineralarea.edu.
This class is available through MAC for college credit or through MAFAA without credit.
