This class uses the
grounding quality of seated poses and sound meditation as an
antidote for our fast-paced modern lives. To that end, there is not
a great need for a lot of postures in this practice - “the more yin
your practice the less variety is needed and the emphasis is placed
on a few basic target postures.”
In the Hatha Yoga
Pradipika there are 15 basic asanas. Of these, 8 are seated (while
7 are non-seated) - the seated posture can be held for a long
period of time, between 3-7 mins. The recommended time to hold a
pose is very subjective. These are guidelines offered, which you
should completely ignore if they are not appropriate for you. Some
students can remain in the asanas much longer than indicated;
others must come out much earlier. Listen to your inner teacher and
respect your body’s unique needs.
Jonny will always
close the session with a gentle/low frequency gong bath relaxation.
Sound Healing allows us to take much-needed time out for ourselves,
resulting in a variety of noticeable benefits such as reducing
stress, enhancing creativity, releasing emotional blockages and
improving our overall wellbeing.
