INTEGRAL GATEWAYS - GROINS, QUADRICEPS & HAMSTRINGS

The yoga path for beginners and more advanced practitioners starts with three principles – tapas (self-discipline), svadhyaya (self-study) and Isvara pranidhana (surrender to the divine).

In a retreat setting, self-discipline, self-study and surrendering the ego move us day by day into experiencing and more deeply understanding how to be ‘at one’ with the natural wisdom of our body. One of the primary locations in the human body to witness these three principles at play is the major intersection of the hip joints.

The hip joints are most stable when the head of the femur is centered in the hip socket. When our bones are centered properly, the nervous system sends out a message of stability to the surrounding muscles and tissues, which releases unnecessary stress, tightness and knots around the joint. The muscles are then freed to move both the bones and the bodily fluid with ease and efficiency.

In this retreat, yogis will open their groins, quadriceps and hamstrings with yoga actions that enhance this free flow of bodily fluids. Pratyahara, pranayama and meditation will accompany the daily asana sequences. This week-long workshop will be held in person at Serene Yoga Studio.
