Infant First Aid & CPR at JCC

The Infant First Aid & CPR class is a non-certification class for new and expecting parents and anyone else who will be spending time with your baby. It’s an interactive class and you will be practicing with infant manikins that provide real-time electronic feedback.

You will learn:

1. CPR
2. Responding to airway issues: choking, drowning, allergic reactions, seizures
3. Responding to trauma: bleeding, burns, falls
4. Strategies for the prevention of pediatric medical emergencies

All of the instructors for this class are EMTs, Paramedics, and RNs.
 
Class fee includes one participant only.
Note: If your partner or other family members are joining please register them separately.

Class fee includes expectant person and a birth partner/support person.
 
The transition from pregnancy to parenthood can be magical, exciting, and difficult all at once. Though most of this journey will be guided by intuition and love, basic knowledge of your baby's needs will help ensure a smooth adjustment for both of you.

What you will learn

This class covers issues relevant to you and your newborn. Our small group size allows for demonstration and practice, as well as a pace conducive to discussion of individual needs.

Topics include:
  • Sights and sounds of the healthy newborn
  • Eating and sleeping patterns
  • Baby essentials - what you really need
  • Dressing - what and how
  • Cord and circumcision care
  • Diapering
  • Bathing
  • When to introduce a bottle and/or pacifier
  • Readying your home
  • Traveling with baby, and more

Oshman Family JCC 3921 Fabian Way | Palo Alto, CA 94303 Please pull in at 3921 Fabian Way, Palo Alto, CA 94303. Enter the right lane and pull up to the Security Booth. Tell them the reason for your visit. From there, you may proceed into the garage. You will find parking in Aisles C, D, E, F or 1, 2, 3, 4. Once you have parked, you may take the staircase just outside the garage entrance or the elevator/staircase located in Aisle D. This will take you up to the main area of campus, the Town Square. From there, follow the walkway all the way back to building G on the right. The room G-106 is on the ground floor.

Breastfeeding is like learning to dance with a new partner - there are steps and rhythms that each person knows, and now these new partners must learn to work together.

In Breastfeeding Basics, participants receive practical information and support to enhance their breastfeeding experience and help them anticipate and overcome common stumbling blocks that new nursing mothers often encounter.

What you will learn

  • Storing and heating breast milk
  • Blocked ducts and breast lumps
