Yin Yoga for Grief & Trauma
May 16, 2026 - May 16, 2026
Join Essential Yoga Studio's owner and yoga teacher Sunni Nutt on Saturday, May 16 from 6-8p as she teams up with licensed massage therapist and certified holistic grief coach Heather Weddle to explore how grief and trauma take up residence in our bodies and practical ways to release and integrate the emotions that often arise with these experiences.

Together, we'll learn and practice therapeutic facial massage to reconnect with feelings of groundedness in our bodies before leaning into a Yin Yoga practice exploring the energetic meridians that support healing from grief and trauma. Our time together will include mini crystal singing bowl sound healing, body mapping, and guided journaling as well as optional share-out in community.

All activities are voluntary - you may choose to participate in as much or as little as you'd like during our time together. Dress comfortably for movement, stretching, sitting, and lying down. Complementary hot tea and water, as well as all yoga materials, are provided.

This event is recommended for those with some healing distance from acute grief or trauma. Resources will be available for anyone needing additional support after our time together.

Sensory Experience Expectations: this special event will take place in a room lit softly by floor lamps and natural light; LED candles may also be used. No smoke (sage, incense, etc) will be burned during our time together. Music will be played softly through the Studio speaker but more intense reverberations will be heard and felt with crystal singing bowls - noise dampening headphones welcome! All movement is voluntary and individual adaptations will happily be provided for all bodies who want to participate to do so.

$30 per person. Please book your spot in advance.

Peri/Menopause Support Group with TK Esthetics
May 22, 2026 - May 22, 2026

If you’re navigating perimenopause, menopause, or postmenopause and have felt dismissed or overwhelmed, this group is for you. Join Essential Yoga Studio as we host Tiffany of TK Esthetics for a welcoming, non-judgmental space where women can share experiences, learn practical strategies to support their bodies, and build a community of understanding and encouragement. We’ll share resources, discuss relevant topics, and occasionally hear from guest speakers on menopause-related health.

This month’s focus: Essential Yoga Studio’s owner and yoga teacher Sunni Nutt will be joining Tiffany to share how a regular yoga practice can support you as you navigate peri/menopause symptoms, helping you find more clarity, patience, self-compassion, and feelings of wellbeing.

This is a voluntary, inclusive group that operates on a donation basis ($5, $10, $15, or whatever you can contribute) to cover the cost of our private meeting space - though all are welcome regardless of ability to contribute. Choose your contribution amount at checkout.

Dress comfortably for seated conversation; hot tea and water provided.

Sensory experience expectations: this event will include conversation and may be set against soft music played from a speaker; lighting will be low but adjustable per participants' preference; we will not be burning incense or other items at this event.

Please book your spot in advance.

The Last Sleep: Death Contemplation & Yoga Nidra Workshop
May 30, 2026 - May 30, 2026
Join Essential Yoga Studio as we welcome Emi and Cecily for The Last Sleep: Death Contemplation and Yoga Nidra Workshop on Saturday, May 30 from 2-330p.

Come explore your mortality with certified death doula Cecily Robertson and E-RYT 200, RYT 500 certified yoga teacher Emi Gilbert. If thinking about death feels big, weird, scary, or unthinkable, this workshop is a gentle entry point. It's also a great place to deepen any death work you've already done.

The Last Sleep is a workshop that will guide you through Atisha's nine contemplations of death, followed by a restorative yoga nidra to integrate the experience. These contemplations are meant to be life-affirming. They will ask us to question what we must do within our own lives in order to prepare for a peaceful death. They invite us to sit with mortality, not as a faraway abstraction in the distance, but as an intimate companion who has already arrived. We will provide bolsters, blankets, journaling prompts, and an opportunity to reflect and share. You will also leave with Hospice Foundation for Outreach's Bucket List +1 folder, a comprehensive tool to complete your advance directive.

This is a pay-what-you can workshop with a suggested donation of $25; choose your contribution at checkout. A portion of your contribution will be donated to HFO, whose vision is to bring dignity and compassion to the end-of-life experience.

People of all backgrounds, identities, and belief systems are welcome! Dress comfortably and bring a sense of curiosity.

What to Expect:
  • Introduction and short flow to get us into our bodies and prepare for stillness
  • Guided contemplation of 9 truths of death, in savasana or other resting pose
  • Opportunity to journal about your experience and share with the group
  • A yoga nidra to integrate the experience and help return to regulation
Sensory Experience Expectations: There will not be any candles, incense, smudging, or food during this workshop. The studio will provide blankets and bolsters, but feel free to bring any creature comforts like your own favorite pillow, blanket, or eye mask.

Dress comfortably; complementary hot tea and water available.
