MICHISTRETCH: Contortion

Instructor is Michele Medina.

In this 2-hour workshop, we will start with a warmup that focuses on warming the joints and core. We'll then move on to hip and hamstring exercises, including front splits, middle splits, and straddles.

Next, we'll focus on properly preparing for backbends, by starting with core work and back activation exercises. We'll then move on to shoulder stretches aimed at preparing for backbends.

Finally, we'll finish with a cool down consisting of exercises that neutralize the spine, as well as core exercises that support the back.

This workshop will include partner adjustments to help participants understand their bodies better. Adjusters will also learn from the individuals they're adjusting. By the end, participants are expected to become experts in their own body.

4-Week Chains & Loops Intro Series

Week 1: Introduction to different spinning entries, simple poses combining both slings, simple poses using separate slings, and a short combo.

Week 2: Review spinning entries and short combo. Introduce floor sequence and new combo. Practice with music.

Week 3: Review previous combos. Introduce a new floor sequence and new combo. Practice with music.

Week 4: Clean up previous combos as a group. Last 20 min of class will be spent giving students 2 opportunities to video record (with cell phones) against the white wall with colorful mood lighting. Can purchase a crispy video add-on where Pixie records you.

4-Week Beginner Pole Tumble Series
Feb 5, 2026 - Feb 26, 2026

This 4 week series is a beginner* friendly introduction for if you’re fascinated by dynamic pole tumbles but think they’re out of your reach or don’t know where to start.

*Week 1:*
We will learn each shape in the “tumble”independently at the base of the pole. The key to feeling safe in dynamic movement is familiarity and control in each move
 
*Week 2: *
We will review all of the tricks learned week 1 and then work specifically on the connection of each shape separately to understand the transitions between them.
 
*Week 3:*
We will review the transitions learned the previous week and will start to take the first trick and transition higher up the pole to the height required to connect the tumble sequentially
 
*Week 4:*
After reviewing the past 3 weeks of our work, we will connect the full tumble and add our finishing touches.
