Congratulations AMA Rep Team!
What a weekend to remember! From April 24–25, the AMA Rep Team took on the 43rd Annual Quebec Open International Martial Arts Championships and made it unforgettable. Fifteen dedicated athletes travelled to Quebec City to compete across multiple divisions, including Team Synchronized Kata, Self Defence, Traditional Kata, and Traditional Weapons.
The action kicked off Friday night with Team Synchro and Self Defence, followed by a full day of Traditional Kata and Weapons on Saturday. But this weekend was about more than medals; it was packed with unforgettable team bonding, plenty of laughs, lots of pool time, and memories that will last a lifetime.
We capped it all off in true Quebec fashion with an incredible Sugar Shack dinner, complete with live music and dancing, a perfect finale to an amazing trip.
We are immensely proud of every AMA Rep Team member. Their hard work and dedication throughout the season truly paid off, and their growth was on full display. The team returned home with an impressive collection of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals.
A huge thank you to Coach Andres Salomon, Mr. Large, and Mr. Hommersen for their leadership, dedication, and unwavering support. Congratulations to all our competitors, you represented AMA with skill, heart, and pride!

AMA FAQ Page
Your Journey, Simplified: Introducing the AMA Dojo FAQ Hub
Whether you’re stepping onto the mats for the very first time or you’ve been training with us for years, questions are a natural part of the martial arts journey. At the Academy of Martial Arts, we believe clarity builds confidence, and confident students grow into strong martial artists.
That’s why we’ve created a dedicated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page: a one‑stop resource designed to support students, parents, and anyone curious about what we do and how we do it.
Our FAQ page is more than a list of answers — it’s a guide to understanding our system, our culture, and the path ahead.
What We Teach — And Why It Matters
Our system, Kosen Bujutu, blends multiple martial arts to create a well‑rounded, deeply rooted training experience. On the FAQ page, you’ll find clear explanations of the arts we teach — including GoJu Karate, Tai Chi, Jujutsu, and Kobudo — and how they work together to build strength, discipline, and resilience.
Students and parents often ask about the origins of Karate, the style we practice, and how these traditions connect to modern training. The FAQ page breaks it all down in simple, accessible language.
Practical Help for Everyday Training
From tying your belt to understanding Japanese terminology used in class, the FAQ page offers quick answers to the questions that pop up most often, especially for new students.
You’ll also find links to helpful resources, including translations and pre‑recorded videos you can follow along with at home.
Understanding Gradings and Progress
One of the most common questions we hear is: “How do I grade for my next rank?”Our FAQ page explains the entire process, from how we monitor your progress to what happens during a grading event.
You’ll learn:
When students are invited to grade
What to expect at your first grading
How written assignments and extracurricular training fit into the journey
Where to find requirements for future belts
We also address the big question: “Can I fail my grading?”The answer is honest, encouraging, and rooted in our commitment to student growth.
Beyond Class: Extra Ways to Grow
Training doesn’t end when class does. Our FAQ page highlights additional opportunities to deepen your skills and connect with the AMA community, including:
Seminars
Private lessons
Seasonal camps (March Break, Summer, Christmas)
Adult retreats and specialty events
These experiences help students build confidence, refine technique, and form lasting friendships.
💬 Your Journey, Your Questions
We built this FAQ page because we want every student and every parent to feel supported, informed, and empowered. Whether you’re curious about curriculum, culture, or next steps, this page is designed to guide you.
Explore the full FAQ page here:https://amadojo.net/brampton/amadojo-faqs/
And if you ever have a question that isn’t covered, our instructors and staff are always here to help. Your journey is unique — and we’re honored to walk it with you.
